Over the 20 weeks (60 hrs), the Beginner’s course in Cake Decoration aims to give learners an understanding of cake decorating techniques develop specialist skills required, provide practical experience in handling tools and equipment, give an understanding of the commodities used, identify the Health and Safety requirements associated with the preparation and use of cake decorating, prepare learners for employment or business in this area of work.
You will also produce a portfolio of works.
The 4 Units are as follows:

Coating and decorating cakes with sugar paste

Coating and decorating small cakes and biscuits with a variety of coatings

Modelling with marzipan and sugar paste

Coating and decorating cakes with buttercream
Grading Categories are: Pass, Merit or Distinction. There are no formal requirements for entry onto this training programme.
